Boat canopy destroyed, will Insurance fix it?

Does anyone know if I can get my canopy replaced by club marine insurance?  The canvas and metal structure is badly damaged.

thanks

If it is storm damage or related to an accident/incident you can.
They did mine a couple of years ago when one of the major fronts came through and ripped it apart

Yep had my had my whole canopy and frame replaced by club marine after a mate snagged it on a low hanging tree in a caravan park. Went through chivers marine as there a platium dealer. They handled everything and did the work all for the cost of the excess.

I was driving on the highway

Sat, 2016-10-22 15:11

I was driving on the highway into gale force winds and the canvas split.  The resulting "flapping" and wind resistance caused the framework to break.  Didn't realise it was damaged until I got home.

I am in Karratha, so it is going to be very expensive exercise to repair.  I will call Club Marine and see how I go.  Thanks for your replies.

Any other advice?

Incident

Will be interesting to see what they say as normally they are looking for some form of incident to cause the damage.

Without that they may claim it let go due to normal wear and tear.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any issues

They have been wrongly denying legitimate claims recently and a couple of FW members sought my help to get the decisions overturned and we are batting 5 From 5 presently and actively working on number 6

Thanks mate.  Being in Karratha, anything could happen. Will I have to take the broken bits in to be inspected, or can I photo the evidence. If they deny my claim... do I still have to pay excess?  Thanks again

You wont be paying an excess

You wont be paying an excess if there is no payment, it is usually paid straight to the repairer

Lodge the claim by phone

they should ask for photos of the damage.....simply report that you were caught in a severe localised storm and the storm ripped the canopy and damaged the supporting structure.....nothing more nothing less.  Once lodged you can email them the photographic evidence and I would suggest that you get a quote for repair / replacement

canopy repairs in Karratha

Mon, 2016-10-24 09:01

Several years ago my rig rolled backwards down the drivewat at Sampson, under a tree and smashed the canopy.

Club Marine approved repairs no worries at all and I had it fixed in town within a week.

Cant recall who did the repair, but Club Marine were excellent.

They didnt even ask for pix, and it was my stupid fault ( I had fitted a big pneumatic wheel to the front and it just rolled off when I wasnt looking! DOH!!)

good luck.

 Thanks guys.  I was driving

Thanks guys.  I was driving into fierce winds, which as I was doing near 100km/hr would have totalled over 140km.  That sounds like a storm force wind to me!
