OK, I'm pretty sure, with that sort of response - you may not get what you want here. If you make an effort, as explained to you - by SK, you will get somewhere. Your response as above smacks of a bit of arrogance, it's common courtesy really - to take the time and make the effort, when you seek advice....IMO.

Sun, 2014-07-20 20:21

You will find that ALL the spots around Bunbury have been heavily fished for many years and those that have a honey hole are not going to give it up easily.

...brutal crowd! But they're right...you say "read my profile" which clearly illustrates your fishing experiences, presumably around Bunbury, so it appears as if you're trying to scam somebody's secret spot.

Don't worry mate, you're not the first, and you certainly won't be the last!

Mon, 2014-07-21 07:47

I know a few blokes from Bunno and have had heavy discussions about quotas. They all (the ones I know) go over and firmly believe that "everyone does it" and that applies to crays dhu snapper. They dont care

Thats why Ethan, you are now asking for spots. Educate your mates!!

The ones you know must be Knob Ends. Size and quotas are there because of those blokes you know. If you know them, maybe you could do some educating. They give the rest of us a bad reputation.

Tue, 2014-07-22 09:21

Yeah Tom i hate to hear that especially living in Bunno, generally most are good down here.Maybe you need to let these blokes know its not on, not everyone will know each other down here its not so small now days.

Back on subject,Ethan ,you sound like your a young bloke and keen as mustard to catch a fish.Best advice i can give, and there is no way i am going to give you any of my offshore spots is to use your sounder like i did to find likely spots they dont have to stand out to much i have found. With your boat i would fish north to Binningup and in anywhere from 7mtrs to 20mtrs plenty of ground up that way. Its called fishing not catching so dont be so impatient ,on the shore side of things ,the estuary for whiting ,river for bream even try the Capel river during winter and off the beach try Forest beach ,buffalo ,belvedere ,in town 1st spur Off the black rocks ,plenty of gutters all along the beaches at the moment.

Mon, 2014-07-21 09:49

Ethan I don't live anywhere near Banbury or bussleton but when fishing for whiting go to a beach with not too much swell and find a sandy patch. That used to work alright when I was little holidaying in bussleton

Sorry sea hunter are you from Bunno? Maybe you can educate them, I have had many discussions with them. Maybe the Bunno Fisheries needs more support. They are not mates of mine, I just work with them.

Mind you I though everyone from Bunno was a Knob End???

Bunbury

Wed, 2014-07-23 06:59

There is only one thing wrong with Bunbury--------they cannot find enough dirt to fill the hole in.

The ones who disregard the fisheries rules are usually from over the hill in Poacherville, sorry Collie, they have had some monumental fines lobbed their way through taking abalone, marron and crayfish over the limit or out of everyone else's season.

Much better since you left carnarvonite LOL ,i would rate carnarvon the same, at least i can leave the keys in the car in my drive way and not have to lock all the doors in bunno. You are spot on re Collie tho, marron rules !! what rules.

One thing for sure, is that if you can catch fish in Bunno then you are a real fisherman as it takes patience, and knowledge and any catch is well earnt.

Spots

Wed, 2014-07-23 20:15

Still got heaps of spots recorded in my books for Bunbury waters but wouldn't even bother entering them in the gps if I came down there for a fish, lots of landmarks and local knowledge that I haven't lost from the time I've been gone.

Basically with Bunbury be prepared to travel, any good fish within 15 mile is a bonus. Probly don't bother with the artificial reef as I've found it's a waste of time and inshore not alot on offer as the dolphins have wiped it out and the poor water quality hasn't helped it either. Tricky place to get good catches but if u learn the tricks it can be very rewarding.

Thu, 2014-07-24 19:51

Fisheries are well aware of what's going on in Bunbury and have been patrolling the ramps quite a bit when the weathers good, I was checked after a night fish at 9pm on a Saturday night so it's only a matter of time before they catch up with anyone doing the wrong thing. I heard they are acting on tip offs some people were bringing in up to 50 fish late at night in may.

Far out Jaggo thats no good at all, where did you hear that.I thought i was up with what happened around town, obviously not.If they are taking that many they cant be caught quick enough.Arseholes for sure.

I think we have 3 fisheries officers down here.

Definately need more fisheries patrols.

Heard it from one of the dive shops, although that was few weeks ago I'd be guessing its gone pretty quiet with all this bad weather. I think they do a pretty good job just alot of ramps in the area to cover.

pretty rare to come across a Fisheries or DPI officer down here.

Personally bumped into one last summer at Abbey Ramp and that was the first time in 10yrs.

I agree Matt, In south Oz they'd be at the ramps all the time and pretty militant!! Here I've seen one volunteer doing some research but never in ten years have I spotted a fishpig at any ramps here down south....

Mon, 2014-07-28 09:29

You wouldnt think it would be hard to do a run of the car parks before 5 in the evening and take down a few rego numbers.Myself and a fellow member were checked about a month ago on a Wednesday at the Power Boat Club ramp.I commented at the time that it was a rare sight ,i use the Casurina ramp mostly and besides a couple of vollies taking info down have never seen a fisheries there. Makes you wonder what their priorities are, i seem to get my licence account on time .

I'm in Bunno also and have never seen any fisheries, I use the Collie river ramp.

I have how ever been pulled up 3 times in two years out on the water for checks from marine safety. Twice in the harbour and once out deep 30mtr mark.

I must be unlucky (or lucky).

Fri, 2014-08-08 12:07

I must be unlucky (or lucky). Been checked coming back from crabbing using Parkridge/Bouvard ramp twice. Had me worried once triple checking a crab and I am pretty pedantic about the measure, but had 3 Teenagers onboard helping!!!! Was all good though.

Also off all things have been checked at the Cut fishing for herrings. Mostly interested in the rigs with number of hooks. Had a silent chuckle when they had to re-educate a likely suspect about using 4 hooks in his rig. The chuckle came when they made him re-tie his "new" rig, confiscated the old one. But I was laughing prior to this because his rig was continually tangled. Also confiscated his herring, but dont know if he was fined out off all this.

Would also like to see more fisheries officer protecting our stocks, and if you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear!!
