Advice regarding the demersal ban
Submitted by joycey on Tue, 2012-10-02 21:38
Hi all,
This is my first year with a boat.
I know about the cockburn sound closed season for snapper and upcoming demersal ban and I am unsure what this means about fishing.
Can you still fish in the sound for whiting etc and bottom fish elsewhere, or is this not allowed in case you catch one of the protected species.
Cheers,
Joycey

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

catching snapper whilst
catching snapper whilst apparently fishing for whiting at the D9 could be a little suss...catch and release demersal fishing is also banned , however I presume they would have to prove you were targetting them which gets a bit tricky being kg and skippy rigs will also catch snapper

Apparantly
the Comercial fishers only stop for 1 month now but I believe Rec's still have a 2 month ban.
