Abrolhos tips????

Hey all,

I am off to the Abrolhos in 6 days for a week of diving and LOTS of fishing.

I am Just wondering if anyone who has been there has any tips for what tackle I should take up.

At the moment I have got a range of plastics, jigs, etc. are there any dinamite lures there??

is it worth taking poppers or stickbaits?

taking up my bream setup, PE2, PE6 and a a boat rod.

any tips greatly appreciated.

They werent interested in my soft plastics with other guys bait also in the water.
Not sure of the water temps there now but a month ago we did well trauling lures for tuna and macks.
Caught dhuies on octa jigs consistently.
Take a spear gun if you have one.
Squid jigs and small halco twisty for nights when anchored in a bay.

Just got back yesterday, weather wasnt so kind so made things a little hard and didnt get to nearly as much as id liked but didnt have any luck with soft plastics as the drifts were to fast and i just couldnt get to the bottom at all, trolled a bit to no luck but had a couple of hits on a the lure with a re dhead and white body pretty sure it was a halco minnow, squid when anchored were taking absolouty anything i threw at them and bagged out in a matter of hours and sabiki rigs were killer for catching the schools of herrings and hardy heads that were attracted to the lights great bait infact all our big fish were caught on fresh squid or herring best of luck on your trip mate and hope the weather gods are kinder than they were to us!

I wanna get free! im gonna get free! right into the sun!

Went over to Abrolhos during the april long weekend with Abrolhos Island Charters (Rat Patrol II). Went well with fankys and daiwa pirates. Jorn did well on CB One jigs as well. Squid jigs a must as well.

SPs take Mcarthys ~ 6inch with 2 and 4 oz jig nitro jig heads.

Our trip we trolled a bit so take some Halco/ Rapala deep divers.

Have fun up there.

4 ounce jighead seem like a bit overkill
was the drift pretty quick when you where there?
also what depth where you fishing with the plastics?

was there a couple weeks ago

was there a couple weeks ago dude and plastics (Mccarthys) were killing it.

Mainly used 2 ounce and 1 1/2 ounce jigs heads. Fanky style and pirates did ok too but yeh my gf even done really well on them and has never even used a plastic before in her life. Baby elf got the dhuies. Orange did well on the pinkied and used the glow yellow early am when still dark and did well also.

Bring squid jigs and some smaller stickbaits for tuna (casting)etc. Lots of mackies when i was there in april also.
