4'6'' Rod for Whiting on Poppers

I am looking at getting a light rod to fish poppers for whiting, one rod I am looking at is a 3-6g rated 4'6'' rod by All Japan Network. I am just wondering if the lenght of the rod will be too short? Any advice?

Too short
The length is really important for casting. Better off over 6'6"

6'6 and 7' is what we use & recommend.

Half decent bream stick in the 1-3 or 2-4kg range.
Only thing would be look for a rod with a fast/tippy action for flicking those light lures maximum distance.That can really make the difference.

I use an Azusa 6' 1-3kg and
I use an Azusa 6' 1-3kg and is is perfect for flats work. plenty of action on both walkers and poppers and bends in all the right places under heavy load. Would happily buy one again.

I am now considering a Daiwa
I am now considering a Daiwa Generation Black Itchy Twitchy 1-3KG but also wondering if I do need a new rod as I have a 5" 4-10lbs rod and was just wondering if I put a light reel and light line on that will that do the trick or will I notice a big difference with the Generation Black?

Reel to match it
On this subject anyone recommend a good reel to go with this type of rod? Also is now a good time to target whiting with poppers?

A little 2500 Stradic FJ or
A little 2500 Stradic FJ or CI4 would go great there Light gear if you get the Gen Black but its not the time yet for whiting on the surface. Around Oct /Nov and into the end of summer is the best. Hot weather + hot water = Hot flats fishing especially down Mandurah way for schools of yellowfin.Try some stickbaits like Atomic K9 pups and walkers and Berkley scumdogs and replace the rear trebles with those Venon or Ecogear zx assist hooks.

i use a rarenium 2500 with 4lb fireline for the flats and spare spool has 20lb ppro for soft plastics pinky fun. Got rid of the trebles on all my lures within a couple of trips. hook up and retention rate was much improved.
