20-40m NOR - desert?

Quick question for those of you fishing between Hillary's and Mindarie - have you found any decent ground between the 20m contour behind the 3 mile and the 40m contour? I have been putting as much time as I can on the water to locate good ground and have found loads in the 40's. There's obviously loads of structure along the 3 mile, but apart from the Gemini I have not found any structure between the 20m and 40m contours.
Is this a complete underwater desert or is there good ground to be found there?

yes
Yes mate there is ground out there, but very hard to pick up on. Instead of looking for structure...lumps ect look for change in bottom hardness. Most of my ground out there, is between 36m and 38m. Lots of big kgs and Baldies in that area as well. Goodluck

I always have a 9/0- 10/0
I always have a 9/0- 10/0 bottom hook and a smaller 5/0-7/0 top hook for the baldies and K'gs. Much the same type of ground up where we are(Seabird) as someone once said up here "there's a lot of nothing out there" but there are also some very good patches. Need to keep an intent eye on the sounder while drifting.

Thanks for the feedback,
Thanks for the feedback, would you guys have any sounder pics of what these bottom hardness changes look like?
Also I've long wondered what flat coral looks like on the sounder, would be greatful if someone could post to give me an idea what to look for.

ha I know what you mean about

I know what you mean about the desert belt. I usually blow straight over it for direction bank , although I have the odd few marks.
I really think you need to sound it out much much slower. stick a troll out and watch intently.
when coming back in from d bank , i do pass good fish returns on "nothing" . every time you turn around to find em , you can't.
Its something I need to put time into.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Can't get the link to work, but search brodyl89 on YouTube and watch "crays" this is some ground in 30m off hillarys. Shows up very small on the sounder ie. just a colour change

yes!
" have you found any decent ground between the 20m contour behind the 3 mile and the 40m contour?"
Theres heaps of ground in that area ie 38-42m....using a good sounder (Furuno my favourite) will find the lumps/coral BUT you need to spend the time on the water working the grounds!
